CLUB DJ

Job Description

The Club DJ is responsible for creating an energetic, engaging, and entertaining atmosphere within the club/lounge through quality music selection, sound management, and audience engagement. The DJ is expected to maintain excellent music flow, understand audience preferences, coordinate entertainment schedules, and contribute to overall customer satisfaction and revenue generation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Club DJ include, but are not limited to:
1. Music & Entertainment Management
  • Play suitable music that aligns with the club/lounge atmosphere and customer demographics.
  • Maintain a seamless flow of music to ensure excellent customer experience and engagement.
  • Read the crowd and adjust playlists/music style to suit customer mood and energy.
  • Mix tracks professionally and ensure smooth transitions between songs.
  • Keep updated playlists covering trending songs, club hits, Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, Amapiano, House Music, and other relevant genres.
2. Sound Equipment Management
  • Properly operate DJ equipment, sound systems, mixers, controllers, microphones, and speakers.
  • Ensure all sound equipment is functional before opening operations.
  • Report any technical faults or equipment issues promptly to Management or ICT/Technical Team.
  • Handle club equipment responsibly to prevent damages or operational downtime.
3. Event & Performance Coordination
  • Collaborate with Management on themed nights, special events, performances, and promotions.
  • Support event execution through appropriate music coordination and timing.
  • Coordinate with MCs, performers, hype men, and entertainers where applicable.
4. Customer Experience
  • Maintain a lively and engaging environment that encourages customer retention and repeat visits.
  • Ensure music content remains professional and appropriate to the club brand and audience.
  • Contribute positively to customer satisfaction and nightlife experience.
5. Professional Conduct
  • Resume duty promptly and remain available throughout assigned shift periods.
  • Maintain professionalism, discipline, and proper appearance while on duty.
  • Comply with all Company policies, operational guidelines, and Management directives.

Job Requirement

  • Proven experience as a Club DJ, Lounge DJ, Event DJ, or Entertainment DJ.
  • Strong knowledge of music mixing software, DJ controllers, mixers, and sound equipment.
  • Ability to understand audience mood and entertainment dynamics.
  • Excellent sense of timing, rhythm, and crowd engagement.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours where required.
